RACS' Women at Risk program provides support for women seeking protection in Australia. The program helps people who identify as female who have experienced, or fear they will experience sexual or gender-based violence, or family and domestic violence.

Through this dedicated program, our clients receive free legal help from our all-female team of lawyers and support staff. We assist with:

  • visa applications, including protection and temporary visas, and bridging visas

  • attending Department of Home Affairs interviews

  • attending Tribunal interviews

  • connecting women with health and welfare services, which can provide financial and housing assistance

We work with many organisations to strengthen the bridge between legal, health and welfare service providers, by sharing knowledge and training in the hopes of significantly improving the way valid protection claims are presented to the Department.

This program operates in Parramatta and is an appointment only service.

With thanks to Jesuit Refugee Service for hosting our Parramatta clinic and to our pro bono law partner, Baker McKenzie, for assisting with our statement clinic.
