We’re kicking off 2019 by celebrating 10 years of incredible support
through King & Wood Mallesons’ (KWM) Secondee program.

This valuable initiative sees employees seconded to RACS for 6 months to provide crucial, pro bono legal support, which involves casework and outreach services.

To top off this substantial contribution, KWM made a hugely generous $10,000 donation to RACS in January of this year.

“With more than 2,000 people requiring its assistance, the task RACS faces is not only massive, it is truly daunting. They need every bit of support they can muster and KWM will work with and alongside RACS to do what we can to help. I strongly encourage everyone to do similarly and get behind RACS in any way they can”

– Dan Creasey, Head of Pro Bono & Community Impact at KWM.

Pro bono initiatives and donations like these are critical in helping RACS meet the legal needs of people seeking asylum in NSW, and are vital for our sustainability and long-term operations.

In 2018 KWM’s support went beyond providing secondee placements.

Their lawyers also contributed to RACS’ work by:

• Representing vulnerable people at Department interviews – a crucial part of the process where people seeking asylum must substantiate their protection claims – and with follow up submissions

• Donating through KWM’s ‘Dig Deep’ workplace giving program – KWM matches donations dollar for dollar, doubling their employee’s impact.

Preparing formal submissions, and undertaking legal research and casework services.

KWM also provide in-kind support such as hosting and sponsorship for events and raffle contributions.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to KWM and their dedicated staff who continue to give their valuable time, generosity and expertise to support the critical work of Refugee Advice & Casework Service.

I’m a law firm interested in supporting RACS work.
