Assisting Proposers of Special Humanitarian Program applicants
RACS has recently devised a pilot project to extend its specialised legal services to Australian-based sponsors seeking to reunite with family members abroad. Family members of former asylum seekers (now permanent residents of Australia) depend on their family here in Australia to apply for legal entry into Australia on their behalf. However, most potential sponsors have no means of accessing legal advice to help them complete complex visa applications. If sufficient funding is forthcoming, RACS plans to begin assisting these disadvantaged persons and their families to access the entitlements available to them under Australian and international law and thereby reunite families divided by tragic circumstances.
